Calculate Your Donation Impact

Beyond annual membership, the Friends gratefully accept additional one-time and recurring donations throughout the year. Use our interactive calculator to see how your generosity translates into tangible library services, new books, and program hours that directly benefit Groveland families. All donations above membership dues are fully tax-deductible and may be designated to a specific program area or directed to the area of greatest need.

Corporate and business sponsors may also partner with the Friends through our annual sponsorship program, which offers naming opportunities for specific events, display sponsorships in the library, and visibility in our print and digital communications reaching over 3,200 community members annually.

Planned giving and legacy bequest information is available by contacting our Treasurer at [email protected] or by calling our office at (978) 555-0147 during regular business hours.

Where Your Membership Dollars Go

The Friends of the Groveland Public Library operate with full financial transparency. Our most recent IRS Form 990 and annual financial statement are available for public review at our About page and through GuideStar. Here is a breakdown of how membership and donation revenue is allocated:

  • 42% — Direct program funding (story hours, tutoring, digital literacy, book clubs, author events)
  • 28% — Book and media acquisitions for the library collection
  • 15% — Technology equipment, maintenance, and lending library devices
  • 10% — Community outreach, marketing, and event venue costs
  • 5% — Administrative overhead (insurance, accounting, office supplies)

Our administrative overhead rate of five percent is among the lowest of any community non-profit in Essex County, reflecting our all-volunteer governance model and the generosity of our partners who donate venue space, printing services, and professional expertise at reduced or no cost.

Employer Matching & Payroll Deduction

Many employers in the greater Haverhill and Merrimack Valley area offer charitable contribution matching programs that can double or triple the impact of your donation to the Friends. Check with your human resources department to see if your company participates. Common matching employers in our area include Raytheon Technologies, General Electric, Fidelity Investments, and several regional healthcare systems. The Friends' full legal name for matching purposes is "Friends of the Groveland Public Library, Inc." and our federal tax identification number is 04-3821947.
